Few things can stop me from indulging in a vintage shopping spree, not even a scorching Parisian summer or a jam-packed schedule. So, amidst the heat and whirlwind of my assignment covering the city, I was thrilled to take TODAY Show hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb on a whirlwind tour of my favorite vintage boutiques.
Our first stop was the legendary Valois, a luxury boutique that’s a treasure trove of designer dreams. From coveted Hermès Birkins and rare Louis Vuitton pieces to Chanel classics – think ’90s-era flap bags, tweed jackets, double-C earrings, and multi-strand chain belts – this family-owned shop is a vintage lover’s paradise. This is where you go to splurge, invest, and treat yourself! We couldn’t resist ogling a stunning Birkin in electric blue epsom leather (€25,000) and a Chanel mini flap bag with rhinestone embellishments (€790). But Valois also holds some amazing finds for less, especially within their extensive jewelry collection.
As I shared with Guthrie and Kotb, my first visit to Valois in 2018 yielded a pair of Chanel earrings for a steal at €150. This time, I spotted a chic Fendi cuff and choker set for €280. After bidding farewell to Valois, we headed to Bobby, one of the city’s most beloved vintage stores, known for its diverse selection of pre-loved pieces. The beauty of Bobby lies in its sheer variety – one rack overflows with Burberry trenches and Dior jackets, while others are filled with vintage Levi’s and Y2K graphic tees. Guthrie, Kotb, and I made a beeline for the sunglasses case (our eyes were drawn to Ray-Ban and Saint Laurent pairs) before diving into a sea of scarves. We were delighted to stumble upon not one, but two vintage Olympic jackets – a black bomber from the 1996 Atlanta Games and a 2004 Athens windbreaker. After a moment of contemplation, Guthrie snagged a nylon Prada trench coat. And while I left behind a stunning workwear suit for just €88 for someone else to fall in love with, I couldn’t resist admiring its timeless elegance.
