Samsung Galaxy A35 and A55 May Get Galaxy AI Features Through Software Update

Samsung’s Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A55 may soon receive a software update that brings them some of the powerful Galaxy AI features found on more expensive Samsung phones. The rumor follows a recent announcement from Samsung’s mobile experience president, TM Roh, stating that Galaxy AI will be accessible on 200 million Galaxy devices by 2024.

According to anonymous sources speaking to Sam Mobile, the Galaxy A35 and A55 could gain access to these features through the upcoming One UI 6.1.1 software update. However, the full suite of AI tools found on high-end devices like the Galaxy S24 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 6 may not be included. Samsung’s Galaxy AI suite includes various features such as note summaries, translation and interpretation tools, Google’s Circle to Search, AI wallpaper, editing and message text suggestions, and even generative AI tools like Instant Slo-Mo for video. While some of these features require access to Samsung’s servers, others can function offline.

The extent of AI features available on the A-Series phones and the exact timing of the update remain unclear. The Galaxy A55 launched with One UI 6.1 and Android 14, and Samsung has promised four years of major updates and five years of security updates. The latest Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 devices currently have One UI 6.1.1, which includes Galaxy AI features.

Samsung’s push for Galaxy AI features is a significant selling point, as seen during its recent Galaxy Unpacked event. The company’s decision to bring these features to lower-cost devices reflects the growing competition from brands like Oppo, which has also committed to integrating AI into its affordable smartphones. Google, facing backlash for failing to include its Gemini Nano assistant on the Pixel 8, highlights the importance of offering desirable software features even on budget-friendly devices. This move suggests that Samsung is recognizing the need to compete on both performance and software features, even within the more affordable smartphone market.
