Zoom has officially launched its first word processor tool, Zoom Docs, as part of its video conferencing app. This new tool aims to improve meeting effectiveness by leveraging an integrated AI Companion. Both free and paid Zoom subscribers can access Zoom Docs without any additional cost. Free users are limited to 10 shared documents and unlimited personal documents without access to the AI Companion. However, all paid Zoom Workplace plans with version 6.1.6 or later have unlimited shared documents and access to the AI Companion.
Zoom Docs enables collaborative document creation with features like mentions for adding colleagues, commenting for feedback, and embedding images, tables, and bullet blocks. Smita Hashim, Zoom’s Chief Product Officer, emphasized the AI-driven nature of Zoom Docs, stating that it transforms meeting information into actionable documents and knowledge bases. This allows teams to focus on meaningful work.
Zoom Docs is included in paid Zoom Workplace licenses, providing additional value to customers. The AI Companion is designed to empower users and save them time by offering features like meeting summary creation with meeting documents, easier co-editing, and efficient content generation. The AI Companion can also adjust text length, alter document tone for specific audiences, and enable users to schedule meetings directly from Zoom Docs.
Furthermore, Zoom Docs integrates grammatical error detection and instant translation into nine languages. It’s essential to note that the availability of AI Companion features within Zoom Docs may be subject to regional restrictions.
