Origis Energy, a leading renewable energy solutions provider in the United States, has announced the successful closing of a $71 million tax equity financing deal with U.S. Bancorp Impact Finance. This financing will support the development of Rice Creek Solar, a nearly 75-megawatt solar project located in Putnam County, Florida. The project is contracted with the Florida Municipal Power Agency (FMPA) to provide clean energy to 12 of its participating member municipal utilities.
Vikas Anand, CEO of Origis Energy, highlighted the significance of this partnership with U.S. Bank, emphasizing its role in accelerating the company’s large solar portfolio development. He praised FMPA’s commitment to expanding cost-effective energy resources for Floridians and acknowledged U.S. Bank’s crucial role in supporting the project.
Eric Barr, Senior Vice President of U.S. Bancorp Impact Finance, emphasized the transaction as a testament to U.S. Bank’s dedication to financing the energy transition. He expressed excitement for the project’s completion, which will contribute to the expansion of clean energy in Florida.
The legal representation for the transaction included Latham & Watkins for Origis Energy, Akerman LLP as Local Counsel, Sheppard Mullin for U.S. Bank, and Balch & Bingham as Local Counsel.
Rice Creek Solar marks the third solar site within the Florida Municipal Solar Project, one of the largest municipal-backed solar initiatives in the United States. Comprising 213,000 solar panels, the 74.9-megawatt project will generate enough clean power to meet the needs of approximately 14,000 homes. Origis Energy is responsible for the construction, ownership, and operation of the project. The project’s completion is expected shortly.
