Jeremy Lamb, a former first-round NBA draft pick, has announced his retirement from the league after a decade-long career. The 32-year-old guard, who last played in the NBA during the 2022 season, revealed his decision on Instagram, expressing his appreciation for the sport that has shaped his life.
“Basketball has been good to me throughout my entire life, so this decision didn’t come easy, but I have decided to retire from the game that has given me everything,” Lamb wrote in his post, going on to thank his family, friends, teammates, and coaches for their support.
Lamb was selected 12th overall in the 2012 NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets. He was subsequently traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder in October of that year as part of the James Harden deal. Throughout his career, he played for the Thunder (2012-15), Charlotte Hornets (2015-19), Indiana Pacers (2019-22), and Sacramento Kings (2022), averaging 10.1 points and 3.6 rebounds in 573 games (136 starts).
Lamb’s basketball journey began at the University of Connecticut, where he was part of the Huskies’ 2011 national championship team. He leaves the NBA with a legacy of consistent play and valuable contributions across multiple teams.
