Fortnite Changes Battle Pass Policy, Giving Players Second Chance at Missed Items

Fortnite, known for its limited-time Battle Pass items, is introducing a change that gives players a second chance at missed items. In a recent blog post, Epic Games announced that items from expired Battle Passes, including outfits, alt styles, and licensed characters, could become available in the Shop at least 18 months after the Battle Pass’s expiration. While not all items are guaranteed to appear, Epic has confirmed that it will notify players when items are added to the Shop. The change applies to future Battle Passes, but it remains unclear if it extends to past ones. This move stems from Epic’s desire to make popular licensed character outfits accessible to a wider audience. The decision benefits both players and Epic Games. Players can now potentially acquire items they missed the first time around, and Epic can expand its Shop offerings with items that players are more likely to purchase. The 18-month window and the lack of guarantee provide a balance, allowing Epic to maintain a sense of urgency and capitalize on FOMO (fear of missing out), while still providing players with a chance to complete their collections. The price of the Battle Pass remains unchanged at 950 V-Bucks or $8.50, and the number of rewards remains the same. This shift in policy signifies Epic Games’ willingness to adapt and address player concerns while also benefiting from a more robust Shop ecosystem.
