KIOXIA’s RAID Offload Technology Wins ‘Best of Show’ at FMS

While regular PC users may not worry about RAID or data redundancy, its importance is paramount in the enterprise space. Mitigating data loss is critical, and for those with RAID setups, the limitations extend beyond storage capacity. Compute costs and DRAM bandwidth requirements are real concerns. With the rise of NVMe SSDs and their enhanced read and write performance, RAID configuration and compute requirements can become bottlenecks, slowing down entire systems.

KIOXIA’s RAID Offload data protection technology addresses this challenge head-on. Described as a standards-based, host-orchestrated scale-out and sustainable solution, it offloads RAID parity compute, freeing up CPU, memory, and cache resources. This innovation has earned KIOXIA the ‘Best of Show’ award in the ‘Most Innovative Technology’ category for SSDs at the Future of Memory and Storage (FMS) event.

“We are honored to recognize KIOXIA’s groundbreaking RAID Offload data protection technology with a ‘Best of Show’ award,” stated Jay Kramer, Chairman of the Awards Program and President of Network Storage Advisors, Inc. “This is a standout achievement, reflecting not only KIOXIA’s technological prowess but also their ability to address critical industry challenges with cutting-edge solutions.”

At the conference, KIOXIA demonstrated its RAID Offload data protection technology, showcasing its ability to accelerate performance, reduce system costs, and increase power efficiency in server and storage systems. This technology is poised to revolutionize the server and storage landscape.

“We are honored to receive this recognition from FMS,” said Neville Ichhaporia, senior vice president and general manager of the SSD business unit, KIOXIA America, Inc. “Our RAID/Erasure Coding Offload technology addresses the critical challenge of data protection with SSD performance scaling, and it exemplifies our commitment to pioneering advancements that drive the future of storage technology.”
