Neeraj Chopra Wins Silver at Paris Olympics, Rahul Gandhi Congratulates

India’s star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra secured a silver medal at the Paris Olympics 2024, adding another feather to his cap. This achievement makes him the second male athlete in Indian history to win two Olympic medals in an individual event, a feat previously achieved only by wrestler Sushil Kumar and badminton player PV Sindhu. The competition was fierce, with several fouls and disqualifications, including from Chopra himself. However, he ultimately achieved a best throw of 89.45 meters, securing the silver. Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem emerged victorious, setting a new Olympic record with a throw of 92.97 meters and securing Pakistan’s first gold medal since 1984. Despite falling short of defending his gold medal, Chopra remained positive, stating that he was satisfied with his performance and that winning a medal for his country always brings him joy. He expressed that while he needed to work on certain aspects of his performance, he remains optimistic about future success.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took to social media to express his pride in Chopra’s achievement, calling him an amazing athlete and congratulating him on his silver medal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended his congratulations to Chopra, highlighting his consistent excellence and the pride he brings to India. Chopra’s success at the Paris Olympics 2024 continues to inspire young athletes across the nation, demonstrating the power of determination and dedication in achieving sporting excellence.
