Four Accused Discharged in 1987 Hotel Robbery Case After 3 Decades on the Run

The Thane Sessions Court has discharged four accused in a hotel robbery case dating back to 1987. These individuals had been ‘absconding’ for over three decades, evading the legal system. The case stems from an incident at a hotel in Thane where the accused allegedly consumed food and beverages worth Rs 532 but refused to pay the bill. Instead, they reportedly threatened the hotel staff with a revolver and a knife, stealing Rs 1,000.

Following the incident, a case was registered against the accused in 1987. They were arrested by the police but subsequently granted bail after the charge sheet was filed. However, their absence from subsequent court proceedings led to their prolonged disappearance. Over the years, authorities made numerous attempts to locate the accused and their sureties. Police reports indicated that the men, who previously resided in hutment areas, had become untraceable. Extensive searches were conducted, but they remained elusive. Despite these efforts, the accused were eventually discharged by the court due to their continued absence and the inability of the authorities to locate them.
