Two Minors Killed in Rain-Related Incidents in Delhi

The national capital has been experiencing heavy rainfall, leading to unfortunate incidents with the loss of two young lives in the last 24 hours. A 13-year-old boy succumbed to electrocution while playing cricket in the Ranhola area. According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (outer) Jimmy Chiram, the incident occurred in Kotla Vihar Phase-2 when the boy came into contact with an iron pole supplying electricity to a ‘gaushala’ (cowshed). The police received a PCR call and immediately transported the boy to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival. An FIR has been registered under Section 106 (1) (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and a thorough investigation is underway.

Sources within the power discom have revealed that the incident likely occurred due to a power leakage from an internal wire wrapped around the iron pole within the enclosed private playground. They have initiated their own investigation into the matter.

Meanwhile, a 7-year-old girl tragically drowned in a pond formed due to rainwater in a park located in Sector-20, Rohini. The Delhi Police have taken necessary legal action concerning this incident.

Expressing deep sorrow over the loss of these young lives, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva has called for an investigation into both incidents. In a statement, he demanded that criminal negligence charges be filed against the power discoms involved in all cases of electrocution deaths that have occurred this year.
