India Celebrates ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Ahead of Independence Day

India is celebrating its 78th Independence Day with a renewed emphasis on national pride and unity through the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign. The initiative, launched in 2022 as part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ (celebrating 75 years of independence), aims to have every household display the Indian national flag. This year, the campaign is gaining momentum with various events and rallies across the country.

On August 9th, 2024, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Union Ministers Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, Kiren Rijiju, and Mansukh Mandaviya flagged off a ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Bike Rally’ at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. Shekhawat highlighted the significance of the national flag, stating that it symbolizes unity and pride for India. He emphasized that the campaign aims to further strengthen the country’s image on the global stage.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju also spoke at the event, highlighting the growing popularity of the campaign, stating that it has evolved into a people’s movement. He underlined the importance of the initiative in fostering a sense of national unity and awakening a spirit of patriotism within the populace.

Vice President Dhankhar emphasized the campaign’s role in showcasing India’s progress and aspirations. He highlighted India’s economic growth and its emergence as a global power. Meanwhile, in Haryana, Minister Kanwar Pal flagged off a ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ marathon in Ambala. He stated that the initiative is aimed at promoting patriotism and remembering the sacrifices of freedom fighters. Pal also emphasized the importance of environmental conservation, advocating for tree plantation as part of the campaign. He announced a government scheme that would reward students for planting and nurturing saplings.

The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign has also gained support from various government departments. The Udhampur Postal Division is actively participating, providing national flags to citizens who wish to display them at their homes. The campaign is receiving strong support from various sectors, including the Delhi Metro, which has issued advisories regarding kite flying near metro lines.

The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, which runs from August 9th to 15th, is expected to culminate in a grand celebration of India’s Independence Day. The initiative is seen as a symbol of national unity, pride, and a reflection of India’s journey towards a brighter future.
