AirAsia Expands India Operations with New Port Blair Route

AirAsia is expanding its operations in India with a new flight route from Malaysia to Port Blair in the Andaman Islands. The new route, which will commence on November 16, 2024, will be AirAsia’s shortest flight route to India. This marks AirAsia as the only airline from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to offer international flights to Port Blair, making it easier for travelers from Malaysia and beyond to explore this beautiful destination.

The airline will operate three weekly flights to Port Blair, adding to its existing network of 91 weekly flights to 17 Indian cities. This year alone, AirAsia has introduced eight new routes within India, including to cities like Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, and Kozhikode.

Port Blair, a captivating gem nestled among the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the Bay of Bengal, has long been a coveted destination for travelers seeking pristine beaches and an abundance of marine life. The island’s allure extends beyond its natural beauty, attracting visitors with its historical sites, diverse ancient tribal communities (protected under Indian law), and thrilling water sports like kayaking through crystal-clear waters.

To celebrate this new route, AirAsia is offering a special promotion with one-way fares from Kuala Lumpur to Port Blair starting at RM199. This offer is available through the AirAsia MOVE app (formerly known as airasia Superapp) or on airasia.com until August 19, 2024, for travel from the launch date until October 25, 2025.

Malaysians eager to explore the Andaman Islands will also benefit from visa-free travel to India for tourist stays up to 30 days until June 30, 2025.
