Indian Army Captain Killed in Terrorist Encounter in Jammu and Kashmir

A tragic incident unfolded on Wednesday in the Doda region of Jammu and Kashmir, where an Indian Army captain lost his life during an encounter with terrorists. The fierce clash, which began on Tuesday night in the Akar Forest area near Patnitop, continued into Wednesday morning.

The encounter, which involved a cordon and search operation, resulted in the death of at least four terrorists. Unfortunately, a civilian was also injured during the exchange of fire in the thickly forested area.

The Indian Army, in a statement on X (formerly known as Twitter), paid tribute to the fallen captain, expressing deepest condolences to his bereaved family. “General Upendra Dwivedi and all ranks of Indian Army salute the supreme sacrifice of the braveheart Captain Deepak Singh, who laid down his life in the line of duty in Jammu and Kashmir,” the statement read. The injured captain had been critically wounded on Wednesday morning and was immediately transported to a military hospital.

Initial reports suggested that several terrorists were killed after security forces recovered four blood-soaked rucksacks and M-4 carbines from the encounter site. The White Knight Corps later confirmed the death of one terrorist and the recovery of an AK 47 rifle along with the M4 carbine. “One terrorist has been neutralised in the ongoing operation. One AK 47 has been recovered in addition to the M4 rifle. Intermittent exchange of firing continues as the operations are ongoing,” the White Knight Corps stated on Wednesday afternoon.

The encounter remains ongoing as security forces continue their operations in the region.
