Bar Pocofino: A Taste of Italian Slow Living in Manila

Bar Pocofino, tucked away in the heart of Salcedo Park, Manila, is more than just a cafe. It’s an embodiment of the Italian philosophy of ‘slow living’, a concept that founder Tuesday Angliongto brought back from her time studying arts management in Milan.

Inspired by the charming cafes, art museums, and leisurely pace of life she experienced in Italy, Angliongto envisioned a space where people could savor the simple joys – a warm cup of coffee, a delicious panini, a leisurely conversation with friends.

“We created the brand to express our philosophy of enjoying ‘the small, fine things,'” she says. “The essence is a translation of the warmth and intimacy that pockets of Italy had in their cafes, restaurants, and streets.”

And it’s this very essence that infuses every aspect of Bar Pocofino. From the moment you step inside, you’re transported to a world of classic Italian charm, with its warm lighting, comfortable seating, and an atmosphere that encourages conversation and connection.

But it’s the drinks that truly capture the spirit of Italy. Each signature cocktail is a sensory journey, a tribute to Angliongto’s memories and experiences in the country.

The

Basil Campania

cocktail, with its sweet pineapple and fragrant basil, evokes the essence of summer, transporting you to sunny shores and refreshing swims.

Il Signore

, a smoky and bitter variation of the classic Old Fashioned, conjures images of dimly lit lounges, jazz melodies, and the lingering aroma of cinnamon.

The Sicily

, named after the sun-kissed island off Italy’s coast, is a blend of sweet cucumbers and a kick of spice, reminiscent of strolling through a friendly old city, discovering hidden gems and meeting welcoming locals.

And the

La Dolce Vita

, inspired by the classic Italian film, is a velvety Espresso Martini that captures the essence of a classic film noir scene – sitting outside a cafe, surrounded by an open yet intimate atmosphere.

The bar itself is located in a corner of a building, a space that Angliongto was drawn to for its welcoming energy. “We liked the character of it, it had a welcoming energy. I imagine customers sipping their coffee having a break in their work day. Friends catching up over coffee and cocktails, enthusiastically sharing their high points and passionately venting about their frustrations. I imagine that Bar Pocofino would have a steady rotation of regulars, a place where the barista knows you and your usual.”

Bar Pocofino is more than just a cafe – it’s a haven for those seeking a taste of Italian slow living in the heart of Manila. It’s a place to savor the simple pleasures, connect with friends, and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
