India Aims for Developed Nation Status by 2047, Prime Minister Modi Revives Nalanda University Spirit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation from the Red Fort on India’s 77th Independence Day, outlining a vision for the country’s future that includes achieving developed nation status by 2047 and reviving the ancient spirit of Nalanda University.

He emphasized the importance of building a world-class education system that attracts students from around the globe. Modi highlighted the recent rebuilding of Nalanda University in Bihar and expressed his desire to awaken the centuries-old spirit of learning associated with the institution. “Under the new education policy, we want to develop such an education system in the country that the youth of my country do not have to go abroad,” he said, emphasizing the goal of providing high-quality education within India.

Modi also drew inspiration from the courage and dedication displayed by 400 million Indians during the fight for independence. He challenged the nation to harness that same spirit to achieve the ambitious goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047. “Now is the time to live for Viksit Bharat 2047 and we Indians are determined,” he declared, emphasizing the need for self-reliance across all sectors.

This year’s Independence Day theme, ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047,’ reflects the government’s commitment to driving India’s transformation into a developed nation. This vision builds upon the Prime Minister’s earlier remarks about the significance of Nalanda University. In June, he inaugurated the new campus of Nalanda University in Rajgir, stating that its revival marked the beginning of a “Golden Age” for India.

Modi’s speech marked his 11th address from the Red Fort on Independence Day, making him the third Prime Minister after Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi to achieve this milestone. His vision for a developed India, built upon a robust education system and a spirit of self-reliance, sets the stage for ambitious goals and transformative change in the years to come.
