Fashion Designers Rally for Kamala Harris in 2024 Presidential Campaign

In a powerful display of unity and support, over a dozen of America’s top fashion designers have partnered with the Democratic presidential campaign to launch a collection that aims to amplify Kamala Harris’s message and inspire voters ahead of the November 2024 election.

This unique collection, “Designers for Democracy,” features a range of apparel and accessories crafted by renowned names such as Aurora James, Tory Burch, Prabal Gurung, Thom Browne, and Victor Glemaud. The collection showcases the creative talents of these designers while simultaneously highlighting the important themes of the campaign.

Among the 16 participating designers, five are making their debut in presidential campaign merchandise: Ulla Johnson, Sergio Hudson, Willy Charavarri, Rachel Scott, and Bettina Benson. Others, including Brett Heyman, Vera Wang, and Joseph Altuzurra, have previously contributed to Joe Biden’s “Believe in Better” 2020 campaign.

Each designer was given the opportunity to incorporate themes of the campaign that resonated with them. Aurora James, the creative director of Brother Vellies and founder of the Fifteen Percent Pledge, designed ribbed sock sets advocating for reproductive rights and voting, while a T-shirt with the inscription “America Is an Idea” reflects her deeply personal connection to this election year.

“The most important issue for me this fall is unity and compassion,” James shares. “For too long, people that look like me were made to feel that we didn’t belong here. But America belongs to all of us, equally.”

Following Biden’s decision to step down from his reelection campaign, the designers quickly rallied behind Kamala Harris, recognizing her potential to bring about significant change. “I’m profoundly excited by the idea that we can have a broader range of human experience in the White House,” James says. “I am a firm believer that an inclusive country is a stronger country. I couldn’t be more excited to support Kamala Harris on her way to the White House. She carries so many of our ideas and dreams about who America is and who she can be, alongside her.”

The collection embodies the diverse voices and perspectives of the designers, with each piece reflecting their unique vision. Willy Chavarria and Vera Wang contribute their own distinctive takes on “Kamala Harris 2024” designs, while Victor Glemaud and Bettina Benson focus on key campaign themes. Glemaud’s work embodies the message “We Are Not Going Back,” while Bettina Benson’s emphasizes “We Chose Freedom.”

Sergio Hudson and Jonathan Cohen created “VOTE” sweatshirts, demonstrating the importance of political engagement, while Tory Burch, a familiar face in political fashion, designed a “Vote Democracy” tee, highlighting the power of participation in democracy.

“Voting is an honor and a privilege, and democracy works best when everyone participates,” Burch tells Vogue.

With prices averaging under $50 and all pieces proudly made in the USA, the collection offers a unique blend of fashion and political advocacy, appealing to both fashion enthusiasts and political junkies alike. The first drop of the collection is available now, allowing individuals to express their support for Kamala Harris while making a statement with their style choices.
