India’s Independence Day: World Leaders Extend Greetings, Highlighting Strong Ties

India’s 78th Independence Day was marked by a wave of greetings from world leaders, each highlighting the special relationship their nations share with India. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to extend her heartfelt wishes to the people of India. Meloni expressed confidence in the growing strength of the India-Italy partnership, stating, “I am confident that together we will achieve great things. Our strategic partnership is an important pillar for the future.”

The Italian Prime Minister’s message was accompanied by a photo of her with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reflecting the strong personal bond between the two leaders. The two leaders met during the G7 Summit in May, with PM Modi traveling to Italy at Meloni’s invitation to attend the G7 Outreach summit, marking his first foreign trip since his third term began.

Echoing Meloni’s sentiments, French President Emmanuel Macron also expressed his congratulations on India’s Independence Day, recalling the warm welcome he received during his visit to India in January. “I look forward to working with my friend @NarendraModi on achieving the ambitious goals we have set for our strategic partnership,” Macron said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, in his message to President Droupadi Murmu and PM Modi, emphasized the importance of the strategic partnership between Russia and India. He expressed confidence that the implementation of agreements reached during recent talks in Moscow would contribute to the further development of multifaceted Russian-Indian cooperation.

These messages from world leaders highlight the significance of India’s position on the global stage and the strong relationships it has forged with nations across the world. The greetings underscore a shared commitment to cooperation, mutual respect, and shared goals across a range of areas, from economic development to regional security.
