A new political advertisement targeting Senator Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.) is drawing attention to the rising cost of living in Nevada. The ad, launched by Win it Back PAC, a group aligned with the conservative Club for Growth, accuses Rosen of supporting large spending bills that have fueled inflation and worsened the housing market.
The ad, part of a $4 million campaign in the battleground state, specifically points to Rosen’s vote for President Biden’s American Rescue Plan (ARP). The PAC argues that the ARP, intended to help the economy recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, ultimately worsened inflation and led to increased housing costs. The ad highlights the rising prices of rent and homes in Nevada, emphasizing the financial strain placed on residents.
“The American Dream once lived in Nevada,” the ad states, “But thanks to Jacky Rosen, we’re waking up to a nightmare where homes are for high rollers and the rent is too damn high because Rosen’s big spending drove housing costs through the roof.”
Rosen’s campaign has pushed back against these claims, stating that she is actively working to address the housing crisis and lower costs for Nevadans. Johanna Warshaw, a spokesperson for Rosen’s campaign, said in a statement to Fox News Digital, “Jacky Rosen is working to address the housing crisis and lower costs so that hardworking Nevadans can afford to pay rent or buy a home and build a good life.”
Warshaw went on to highlight Rosen’s efforts, including tackling price gouging in the housing market by out-of-state investors, advocating for lower interest rates to reduce mortgage and rent costs, and working with local communities to increase affordable housing options.
Rosen is facing a tough re-election campaign against Republican Senate candidate Sam Brown, a retired Army Captain endorsed by former President Trump. While Rosen received some positive news with the Cook Political Report shifting the race from a “Toss Up” to “Lean Democratic,” the economy and inflation remain key issues in Nevada, with residents expressing significant financial concerns. A June Fox News Poll revealed that nearly half of Nevadans felt negatively about their financial situations, with only 13% feeling like they were getting ahead.
The race in Nevada is anticipated to be one of the most closely watched in the country, as national polls show the economy is a top priority for voters nationwide. While the economy has shown some improvement since the beginning of Biden’s presidency, a significant majority of Americans continue to view the economy negatively.
As the 2024 election draws closer, the focus on economic issues, including inflation and housing affordability, will likely continue to shape political discussions and campaigns across the country.
