Vinesh Phogat Hints at Possible Return to Wrestling Despite Paris 2024 Disqualification

Vinesh Phogat, the celebrated Indian wrestler, has left the door open for a potential return to the sport despite her recent disqualification from the Paris 2024 Olympics. In a heartfelt post on social media, Phogat expressed her disappointment over the weight violation that cost her a chance to compete in the 50kg women’s freestyle wrestling final.

Her appeal for a joint-silver medal was rejected by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on Wednesday, solidifying her elimination from the games. However, Phogat hinted at a possible return to wrestling, stating that she could envision competing until 2032 under different circumstances.

“Maybe under different circumstances, I could see myself playing till 2032, because the fight in me and wrestling in me will always be there,” she wrote. “I can’t predict what the future holds for me, and what awaits me in this journey next but I am sure that I will continue to fight always for what I believe in and for the right thing.”

Despite the setback, Phogat’s words suggest a strong desire to continue her wrestling journey. Her commitment to the sport and her unwavering spirit, as evident in her social media post, indicate that she may not be ready to hang up her wrestling shoes just yet.
