Shraddha Kapoor’s horror-comedy sequel, ‘Stree 2: Sarkate Ka Aatank’, has set a new benchmark for box office success. The film, which hit theaters on India’s Independence Day, has already grossed over ₹ 90 crore net in its first two days of release.
The sequel to the 2018 hit ‘Stree’ boasts a star-studded cast, including Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurana, and Tamannaah Bhatia, alongside a special cameo by Akshay Kumar. The film enjoyed a massive release, screening at over 1,600 screens across 75 countries. This wide release, coupled with the film’s strong performances and engaging storyline, has driven its impressive box office performance.
‘Stree 2’ made history by securing the largest opening weekend box office collection for a female-led Bollywood film. The movie, directed by Amar Kaushik, was produced on a budget of ₹ 50 crore and generated ₹ 46 crore on its opening day alone.
The film has also seen strong overseas performance, grossing ₹ 7.6 crore internationally. Analysts are predicting a strong lifetime collection for the film, with some even suggesting a potential entry into the ₹ 500 crore club. Film trade analyst Sumit Kadel, in a social media post, highlighted the film’s impressive run, stating, “Stree2 FRIDAY – RIOT MODE continues.. It will easily go past ₹ 30 cr & may touch ₹ 40 cr nett as well. ₹ 400 cr lifetime is a given from here, may join ₹ 500 cr Club too.”
