Alert Police Officer Rescues Woman From Falling Off Atal Setu Bridge

A dramatic rescue unfolded on Friday when a 57-year-old woman was saved from falling into the sea from the Atal Setu sea bridge in Nhava Sheva. The incident, which has since gone viral on social media, highlights the quick thinking and decisive action of a police officer who intervened just in time.

According to police officials, the woman was sitting on the safety barrier of the bridge when she lost her balance and was about to plunge into the sea. The incident occurred around 7 PM, and police, who had been alerted about her presence, rushed to the scene. As the officer approached, the woman panicked and lost her balance. The officer, however, reacted swiftly and managed to hold her just in time, preventing a tragic fall.

The woman later explained that she was overcome by panic when she saw the police approaching. The Nhava Sheva police are currently investigating the incident to determine the circumstances that led to her precarious position on the bridge.

The Atal Setu, constructed at a cost of over ₹17,840 crore, is a remarkable engineering feat. This 21.8-kilometer six-lane bridge spans 16.5 kilometers over the sea and 5.5 kilometers on land. It stands as India’s longest bridge and longest sea bridge, significantly enhancing connectivity between Mumbai International Airport and Navi Mumbai International Airport.
