Paris Saint-Germain has been dealt a major blow with the news that their new signing, Goncalo Ramos, will be sidelined for three months after suffering a serious ankle injury. The 23-year-old Portuguese striker, who joined the French champions for a record 90 million euros (99 million USD) last summer, limped off the field just 20 minutes into their Ligue 1 opening day victory over Le Havre.
The club confirmed the severity of the injury, stating that Ramos has a serious ankle ligament injury that will require surgery in the coming days. This setback is a significant blow for PSG, who were hoping Ramos would form a formidable attacking partnership with the likes of Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé, and Randal Kolo Muani.
Ramos had a promising start to his PSG career, showcasing his attacking prowess in pre-season friendlies. He was hoping to make an immediate impact in Ligue 1, but his injury will force him to spend the next three months on the sidelines.
The news of Ramos’ injury comes just a day after PSG’s impressive 4-1 victory over Le Havre. Despite the absence of their new striker, the Parisians still managed to secure a comfortable win thanks to goals from Lee Kang-in, Ousmane Dembele, Bradley Barcola, and Randal Kolo Muani.
It remains to be seen how PSG will cope with the absence of Ramos. They have a wealth of attacking talent in their squad, but the loss of the Portuguese striker will undoubtedly be a setback for the French giants.
