A stray dog unleashed a terrifying rampage in Tamil Nadu, injuring over 25 people, including seven children, in two separate villages. The incident occurred on Friday, during a temple festival in V Mamandur near Chinna Salem, Kallakurichi district. The dog suddenly went berserk, attacking and biting more than 15 devotees who had gathered for the festivities.
Villagers managed to drive the aggressive animal away, but it didn’t end there. The stray dog continued its rampage, reaching neighboring Panaiyanthur village in Cuddalore district, where it mauled another dozen people. Despite efforts to capture the dog, it remains at large.
Fifteen individuals who were bitten during the attack in Chinna Salem received anti-rabies shots at the local government general hospital. The extent of the injuries suffered by the victims, including bites to limbs and faces, is currently unknown.
Authorities are investigating the incident and urging residents to be vigilant and take necessary precautions to avoid similar attacks. The incident has highlighted the increasing concern of stray dog populations in the region and the potential dangers they pose to the public.
