AIIMS Neurosurgeon Dies by Suicide in Delhi

A 34-year-old neurosurgeon at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) tragically died by suicide at his residence in south Delhi’s Gautam Nagar area on Sunday. The deceased, identified as Raj Ghoniya, hailed from Rajkot, Gujarat. He was stationed at the Trauma Centre of AIIMS.

According to police reports, Mr. Ghoniya’s death is suspected to be due to a drug overdose, as empty vials of medication and syringes were discovered at the scene. A suicide note was also found, although it did not place blame on anyone.

The neurosurgeon was rushed to AIIMS, where he was unfortunately pronounced dead. A police spokesperson stated that a PCR call was received at the Hauz Khas police station around 2 pm on Sunday, reporting a doctor’s suicide in Gautam Nagar.

Preliminary investigations conducted by the Delhi Police suggest that a family dispute may have contributed to the tragic incident. The exact details of the dispute and the circumstances surrounding Mr. Ghoniya’s suicide are currently under investigation.
