JMM Leader Champai Soren Hints at Possible Exit, Citing Humiliation and Lack of Respect

Former Jharkhand Chief Minister and JMM leader Champai Soren has penned a heartfelt letter on X, detailing the pain and humiliation he felt when he was asked to resign from his post. This move came shortly after his predecessor, Hemant Soren, was released on bail. The incident has sparked rumors that Champai Soren might be considering leaving the JMM and joining the BJP.

Soren’s appointment as Chief Minister came after Hemant Soren was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in January on allegations of land scams. He served as the Chief Minister for a brief period, resigning on July 3. In his letter, he recounted his experience, highlighting that he always worked for the people and took decisions in their best interest. He said he was always available to the people, and believed they would evaluate his actions based on his dedication to all sections of society.

However, Soren’s tone shifted when he described the events following Hul Diwas, a significant tribal festival. He mentioned that his party leadership cancelled all his programs for the next two days, forcing him to attend a meeting with other INDIA bloc leaders. It was during this meeting that he was unexpectedly asked to resign.

Soren expressed his shock and anguish, stating that he had no prior knowledge of the agenda or purpose of the meeting. Although he felt the request was an insult to his self-respect, he readily submitted his resignation due to his lack of desire for power.

He further stated that he felt like he had “no existence” in the party after this incident. He concluded his letter by revealing that he is currently weighing three options: retiring from politics, forming his own political organization, or joining forces with another political entity.

While Soren clarified that he has no intention to harm the JMM, he stressed that he is deeply hurt by the circumstances that led him to this decision. He emphasized that his current struggle is personal and does not involve any other party members or the organization’s well-being. He reiterated that all three options remain open until the Jharkhand Assembly elections.

Speculation surrounding Soren’s potential shift to the BJP escalated when he traveled to Delhi. He clarified to local reporters that he hasn’t met with any BJP leaders and that his visit to the national capital is purely personal. Nevertheless, the possibility of him joining the BJP remains a topic of intense discussion and speculation within political circles.
