The Madras International Circuit in Chennai witnessed the culmination of the fourth and final round of the MRF MMSC FMSCI Indian National Car Racing Championship, concluding a season filled with exciting races and remarkable achievements.
Two young racers, Jaden Rahman Pariat and Abhay Mohan, emerged victorious in the premier single-seater categories. Jaden, at the age of 17, secured his maiden championship title in the MRF Formula 2000 category, proving his talent and skill. While he finished second behind Chetan Surineni in both races on Sunday, he had amassed enough points throughout the season to claim the championship. “I have proved to myself that I have it in me to win a championship,” Jaden stated after his victory. “After my win on Saturday, I wanted to bring the car home without trying anything risky. It is great to win my first championship.”
Abhay Mohan, also making his mark in the racing world, dominated the MRF Formula 1600 category, securing his first championship at the young age of 16. He narrowly missed an all-win record, losing one race to Zahan Commissariat. However, with 11 victories out of 12 starts, Abhay clinched the championship with a substantial lead. “It is yet to sink in,” Abhay said, expressing his joy. “Winning a championship in my debut season is great. I cannot find words to express my happiness.”
The championship also saw a historic moment as Diana Pundole shattered the glass ceiling in the MRF Saloons category. Becoming the first female driver to win a championship title, Diana, a mother of two, showcased exceptional talent and determination. Celebrating her 28th birthday just last Friday, Diana added a sweet victory to her already momentous achievement. “I did not touch my phone because I wanted to focus on the races,” Diana shared her focus during the competition. “I cannot describe the feelings now, but I am very happy.”
Other winners included Biren Pithawalla in the Indian Touring Cars category, Srinivas Teja in the Indian Junior Touring Cars category, and Viswas Vijayaraj in the Formula LGB 1300 category.
