Tollywood actor Samrat Mukherjee was arrested by Kolkata police early Tuesday morning following a hit-and-run accident in the Behala area of the city. The incident occurred when Mukherjee’s car, traveling at high speed, collided with a motorcycle. The motorcyclist, a 29-year-old resident of Vidyasagar Colony in Behala, sustained injuries and was initially taken to M R Bangur Hospital. He was later transferred to SSKM Hospital for further treatment.
The motorcyclist recounted the incident, stating, “It was 12:30 am when I was returning home. I saw a car coming from the wrong side at high speed. The car hit me, and I lost consciousness.” Local residents reported that Mukherjee was driving from Behala Chowrasta towards Tollygunge when he lost control of his vehicle. Following the collision with the motorcycle, Mukherjee’s car crashed into a nearby house, damaging its boundary wall.
The police have confirmed the arrest of the actor and stated that he is undergoing medical tests. An investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances leading to the accident.
