Rahul Gandhi Condemns Sexual Abuse Case in Maharashtra, Raises Concerns Over Police Inaction

Former Congress president and Lok Sabha opposition leader Rahul Gandhi voiced his strong condemnation of the recent sexual abuse case involving two young schoolgirls in Badlapur, Maharashtra. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Gandhi questioned the state of society, asking, “After West Bengal, UP, Bihar, the shameful crimes against daughters in Maharashtra also force us to think where are we heading as a society?”

He raised concerns about the difficulties victims face even in filing a police report, stating, “Why has it become so difficult for victims to even go to the police station?” Gandhi alleged that instead of focusing on delivering justice, more effort is directed towards concealing crimes. He emphasized that women and marginalized communities bear the brunt of this negligence.

Gandhi asserted that not registering an FIR not only discourages victims but also emboldens criminals. To ensure women’s safety and security, he called for a serious introspection among political parties, citizens, and all levels of government regarding necessary steps. He concluded by stating that justice is a fundamental right for every citizen and should not hinge on the whims of the police or administration.
