Turkish Airlines Announces Expansion with 25 New Destinations

Turkish Airlines has announced a significant expansion of its route network, adding 25 new destinations across the globe. This ambitious plan reflects the airline’s commitment to growth and its confidence in the global travel market.

The airline will be adding eight new destinations in Europe, including Bergen in Norway, Glasgow in Scotland, Iasi and Timisoara in Romania, Katowice in Poland, Nantes in France, and Newcastle in England. In the Americas, Turkish Airlines will introduce four new routes, flying to Lima in Peru, Orlando in the US, Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, and Santiago in Chile.

In the Middle East and Africa, Turkish Airlines will expand its reach to eight new destinations: Abha in Saudi Arabia, Aswan in Egypt, Brazzaville in the Republic of the Congo, Hargeisa in Somaliland, Lome in Togo, Port Sudan in Sudan, Salalah in Oman, and Windhoek in Namibia. The airline will also add two new destinations in the Asia-Pacific region: Phnom Penh in Cambodia and Sydney in Australia.

Domestically, Turkish Airlines will introduce new routes to Bayburt and Yozgat within Turkey.

A notable addition to the airline’s network is Atyrau in Kazakhstan, located on the Caspian Sea. This new route will offer a second connection from Atyrau to Istanbul Airport, complementing the existing service provided by Air Astana.

These additions come at a time of strong growth for Turkish Airlines. In the second quarter of 2024, the airline saw a 7.7% increase in passenger traffic, reaching 22.1 million travelers. Despite challenges like aircraft delivery delays and groundings, the airline’s capacity has exceeded pre-pandemic levels by 38%.

The airline’s ambitious expansion plan positions it as a major player in the global aviation industry, offering passengers increased connectivity and choice for their travel needs. With its growing network and strong performance, Turkish Airlines is poised for continued success in the years to come.
