Two Journalists Wounded, One Missing After Russian Strike on Kramatorsk Hotel

A Russian nighttime missile strike on a hotel in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk has resulted in injuries to two journalists and left another missing in the debris. According to Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk regional government, the journalists were British, American, and Ukrainian nationals. A search operation is currently underway to locate the missing journalist.

Filashkin reported on Telegram that the attack occurred “in the middle of the night” and targeted a hotel in the city. “Two people are currently known to be wounded, and one person is under the rubble,” he stated. “All three victims are journalists, citizens of Ukraine, the US, and the UK. In addition to the hotel, a nearby high-rise building was also damaged.”

“Authorities, police and rescuers are working at the scene,” added Filashkin. “The rubble is being cleared and rescue operations are underway.”

Kramatorsk holds significance as the last major city in the Donbas region under Ukrainian control. Situated approximately 20 kilometers (13 miles) from the war’s front line, the city had a population of roughly 150,000 before the Russian invasion in February 2022. Since then, it has been subjected to repeated attacks.
