Sanjay Roy, the main suspect in the high-profile case of the brutal rape and murder of a 31-year-old doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, reportedly confessed to the crime during a polygraph test on Sunday. During the lie-detector test, Roy provided details of his movements on the night of the alleged crime. He admitted to molesting another woman in the street, an act captured on surveillance cameras, according to India Today.
Providing a detailed timeline of his movements, Roy told the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) that he had visited a red-light area with a friend hours before the alleged murder. He claimed, however, that he did not engage in any sexual activity. Later that night, Roy reportedly video-called his girlfriend and requested nude photos, which she sent.
The CBI is also conducting an investigation into alleged financial irregularities within the hospital. On Monday, the agency questioned former principal of RG Kar Hospital, Sandip Ghosh, and former medical superintendent and vice principal, Sanjay Vashisth. Ghosh, whose Beliaghata residence was searched by CBI officers on Sunday, appeared at the central agency’s office in Salt Lake on Monday morning with files and documents.
