Gogo Business Aviation (NASDAQ: GOGO) and Skyservice Business Aviation, a leading force in North American business aviation, have announced a strategic partnership to bring 5G connectivity to business aircraft. This collaboration will involve the development of Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) for Gogo 5G across six popular aircraft models. These STCs, approved by Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) and pending validation by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), will significantly enhance in-flight connectivity for business aviation.
Gogo’s 5G network aims to provide North American operators with superior air-to-ground (ATG) in-flight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC). This network, backed by over 159 sites, including nine in Canada, will vastly expand Gogo’s 5G reach across the continent, particularly in Canada.
“Our global clients depend on us for top-tier in-air communication solutions,” said Benjamin Murray, President and CEO of Skyservice. “Partnering with Gogo allows us to offer fast, cutting-edge, and reliable 5G services to a wider range of aircraft.”
The STCs developed by Skyservice for Gogo 5G will be available for the following aircraft:
* Bombardier Challenger 300/350
* Bombardier Global 5000/6000
* Dassault Falcon 2000/7X/8X
* Embraer Legacy 450/500
* Gulfstream G450/550/650
* Gulfstream G280
Operators of these aircraft will benefit from the installation of an AVANCE L5 system and two MB13 phased-array antennas. By the second quarter of 2025, the L5 system can be easily upgraded to the AVANCE LX5 (5G Line Replaceable Unit).
David Salvador, Vice President of Aftermarket Sales at Gogo, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: “Skyservice is a longstanding and valued partner. Their continued investment in Gogo 5G certification expands our STC portfolio, delivering an exceptional inflight connectivity experience to our shared customers.”
Gogo continues to receive 5G orders and offers operators upgrading to AVANCE significant savings, up to $50,000, in preparation for Gogo 5G. As part of Gogo’s transition to LTE technology by early 2026, Skyservice is also offering scheduled upgrades from legacy ATG systems (ATG 1000, 2000, 4000, 5000) to AVANCE through a dedicated space upgrade program.
This partnership between Gogo and Skyservice represents a significant step forward in enhancing in-flight connectivity for the business aviation sector. By leveraging the power of 5G, operators can offer passengers faster speeds, more reliable connections, and an overall improved in-flight experience.
