GCL SI, a prominent player in the global solar power industry, has taken a significant step forward in its commitment to the Brazilian market by joining the Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy (ABSOLAR). This strategic move, announced at Intersolar South America 2024 in São Paulo, signals GCL SI’s dedication to advancing solar energy solutions in the region. The company signed a membership agreement with ABSOLAR during the event, signifying a collaborative partnership aimed at fostering sustainable energy development in Brazil.
ABSOLAR, a non-profit organization, represents companies across Brazil’s photovoltaic (PV) sector. It advocates for the interests of its members and actively promotes the adoption of solar energy throughout the country. Enrique Garcia Ferreiro, Head of Iberia & LATAM for GCL SI, expressed the company’s enthusiasm about joining ABSOLAR. “GCL SI is proud to be part of ABSOLAR, an organization committed to enhancing knowledge within the solar industry and promoting this technology in Brazil. This collaboration will allow us to expand our presence in the Latin American market and leverage ABSOLAR’s expertise to drive the development of solar energy in Brazil,” he said.
GCL SI, a subsidiary of GCL Group, has been at the forefront of solar energy innovation. The company boasts the world’s largest granular silicon production capacity of 420,000 tons. This technology significantly reduces carbon emissions compared to traditional methods, boasting a carbon emission of only 20.74 kg CO2 per kilogram of granular silicon, a 74% reduction compared to the traditional Siemens method.
At Intersolar South America 2024, GCL SI showcased its innovative technologies, including the GCL Carbon Data Platform, the world’s first carbon management platform in the solar PV industry. This platform integrates granular silicon technology, blockchain technology, and digital intelligence technology, enabling transparent, verifiable, and secure carbon footprint management across the entire industry chain. The GCL Carbon Data Platform visualizes, quantifies, and authenticates the low carbon footprint of granular silicon module products. This data-driven approach ensures traceability and verifies that each module achieves industry-leading low carbon values.
GCL SI’s membership in ABSOLAR marks a significant milestone in its journey to expand its influence and establish a strong presence in the Brazilian and Latin American markets. The company’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions, combined with its cutting-edge technologies, positions it as a key player in driving the growth of the solar energy sector in the region.
