Shiv Sena MLA’s Car Wash by Policeman Sparks Controversy

A video circulating on social media has sparked controversy in India, showing a policeman washing the car of Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad. The incident has raised questions about the potential misuse of police resources and the line between security duty and personal service.

Former Congress MLA Harshwardhan Sapkal, who shared the video, criticized the action, calling it a clear case of police misuse. He stated, “This is a disgrace.”

Gaikwad, however, offered a different explanation. He asserted that the policeman, who was assigned to his security detail, had vomited inside the vehicle after breakfast and volunteered to clean it. He emphasized that nobody had requested the policeman to wash the car.

The incident comes shortly after Gaikwad’s controversial claim in February that he had hunted a tiger in 1987 and wore its tooth as a necklace. Following this claim, the state Forest department seized the tooth and filed charges against Gaikwad under the Wildlife Protection Act. The tooth was sent for forensic analysis.

Gaikwad, a member of the party led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, had previously posted a video on social media claiming to have hunted a big cat.

The video of the policeman washing Gaikwad’s car has triggered widespread debate, with many questioning the boundaries of police duty and the appropriateness of using police personnel for personal tasks. The incident has raised concerns about the potential for abuse of power and the need for clear guidelines regarding the utilization of police resources.
