Aeromexico Celebrates 90 Years with New Liveries and a Nod to Mexican Culture

Aeromexico, a major Delta partner, is celebrating its 90th anniversary in style with the introduction of two new liveries on its 737-9 and Embraer E190 aircraft. The airline has unveiled a fresh look that incorporates both a modern aesthetic and a deep respect for its Mexican heritage.

One of the new liveries, spotted by aviation enthusiast Preston Fiedler, graces a 737-9 aircraft with the registration XA-GQS at Boeing Field. The livery features a refined version of the airline’s iconic Caballero Águila symbol, which adorns the aircraft tails. This updated design embodies the evolution of Aeromexico, symbolizing warmth, dynamism, modernity, and the spirit of contemporary Mexico. The redesigned Caballero Águila takes on a more human-like face, signifying closeness and empathy, reflecting Aeromexico’s commitment to building strong connections with its customers, stakeholders, and partners.

Aeromexico also unveiled a unique livery on one of its Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft, named ‘Kukulcán’ after the Mayan feathered serpent deity, revered as the god of the winds. This striking design was created by renowned Mexican artist Edgar Flores, also known as ‘Saner’, who is celebrated for his work inspired by the rich folklore, colors, and mysticism of Mexican culture. The aircraft’s vibrant design incorporates iconic elements such as flowers, birds, and endemic species, showcasing the diverse cultural heritage and traditions of Mexico. The aircraft, registered as XA-GQS, proudly displays these cultural references through its striking appearance.

In addition to its new liveries, Aeromexico has a busy delivery schedule on the horizon. According to ch-aviation, the airline has six aircraft pending delivery, including two 737 MAX 8 and four 737 MAX 9 models. Notably, three of these aircraft, including the two 737 MAX 8 and one 737 MAX 9, have already completed their first flights, suggesting that their delivery is imminent. These aircraft have been ordered by various lessors, including Air Lease Corporation (ALC), DAE Capital, and Jackson Square Aviation.

Aeromexico’s 90th anniversary celebrations showcase the airline’s dedication to its Mexican roots while embracing a modern and dynamic approach to its brand. The new liveries, coupled with its ongoing fleet expansion, mark a significant milestone for Aeromexico as it continues to connect Mexico with the world.
