Bangladesh Takes Control in Rawalpindi Test with Miraz’s Five-Wicket Haul

Bangladesh took control of the second Test in Rawalpindi on Saturday, bowling out Pakistan for 274 on day two. The tourists, seeking a 2-0 series win after their resounding victory in the first Test, were led by the brilliance of Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who claimed a remarkable five wickets for 61 runs.

Despite half-centuries from Shan Masood (57), Saim Ayub (58), and Salman Agha (54), Pakistan’s batting order faltered against the relentless Bangladesh bowling attack. Taskin Ahmed, drafted into the team after Shoriful Islam suffered a groin injury, also impressed with 3-57, including the crucial wicket of Abdullah Shafique in the first over of the day.

Early setbacks for Pakistan set the tone for the day. After winning the toss and opting to field, Bangladesh capitalized on a wet outfield, and Taskin Ahmed bowled Shafique with a swinging delivery. Pakistan recovered to reach 99 for one at lunch, with Masood reaching his 10th Test half-century, but the skipper was soon dismissed lbw by Miraz.

The Bangladesh bowlers kept the pressure on, and despite some dropped catches, their momentum continued to build throughout the day. Saim Ayub was stumped by a clever flighted delivery from Miraz, while Saud Shakeel, who was dropped at slip, perished after chopping a Taskin Ahmed delivery onto his stumps.

The dismissal of the out-of-form Babar Azam for 31 before tea and Mohammad Rizwan for 29 shortly after left Pakistan in a precarious position at 211 for six. Khurram Shahzad and Mohammad Ali followed quickly, before Ahmed removed Salman Agha. Miraz then had Abrar Ahmed stumped to complete his impressive five-wicket haul and seal the victory for Bangladesh.

With Bangladesh reaching 10 for no loss at stumps, they will be confident of securing a commanding lead in the second innings. The series is now finely poised for a thrilling conclusion.
