Indian Women Cricketers Shine in WBBL Draft

The Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) draft has seen a strong showing of Indian women cricketers. Jemimah Rodrigues, a rising star, was selected by Brisbane Heat in the first round. All-rounder Deepti Sharma followed suit, being picked by Melbourne Stars in the same round.

The second round saw another Indian player, pacer Shikha Pandey, join Rodrigues at Brisbane Heat. The third round brought further success for Indian talent, with all-rounder Hemalatha Dayalan being chosen by Perth Scorchers. Yastika Bhatia completed the impressive Indian contingent by joining Deepti Sharma at Melbourne Stars.

This wave of Indian players being selected in the WBBL draft follows the earlier signing of Smriti Mandhana by the Adelaide Strikers. These selections highlight the growing presence and recognition of Indian women’s cricket talent on the global stage, and promise exciting opportunities for them to further hone their skills and showcase their abilities in the competitive WBBL environment.
