Gun and Bomb Attack in Manipur Leaves One Dead, Four Injured

A deadly attack involving guns and bombs, allegedly carried out by suspected militants, has shaken the Imphal West district of Manipur. The incident, which occurred on Sunday, resulted in the tragic death of 31-year-old Ngangbam Surbala Devi and injuries to four others.

The attack unfolded in residential areas, with the victims caught unawares in their own homes. The assailants, positioned on hilltops, unleashed indiscriminate gunfire towards the low-lying valley areas of Koutruk and nearby Kadangband. Tragically, Devi’s eight-year-old daughter was also injured in the barrage of bullets.

The deceased woman’s body was transported to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for a post-mortem examination. Among the injured, Devi’s daughter and police officer N. Robert (30) were admitted to RIMS, while two others are receiving treatment at Raj Medicity.

The attack plunged the area into chaos, prompting residents to flee their homes in fear. Women, children, and elderly individuals were among those who sought refuge in safer locations. To restore order and security, both state and central security forces have been deployed to the affected areas.
