11 Candidates Die During Jharkhand Excise Constable Recruitment Physical Tests

A tragic series of events unfolded during the physical test round of the Jharkhand government’s recruitment drive for excise constables, with 11 candidates losing their lives across various centers. The physical tests, which began on August 22nd, were conducted at seven centers located in Ranchi, Hazaribag, Palamu, Giridih, Sahebganj, and East Singhbhum districts.

The majority of the fatalities occurred in Palamu, where four candidates passed away. Giridih and Hazaribag each reported two deaths, while one death occurred at the Jaguar center in Ranchi, and one each at the Mosabani center in East Singhbhum and the Sahebganj center.

In response to these tragic incidents, cases of unnatural death have been registered, and investigations are currently underway. The authorities have assured that adequate arrangements, including medical teams, medicines, ambulances, mobile toilets, and drinking water, were provided at all centers.

However, amidst the grief and shock, allegations of mismanagement by the authorities have surfaced. The BJP youth wing staged a protest against the JMM-led government at Ranchi’s Albert Ekka Chowk, claiming that the deaths were a result of negligence and inadequate arrangements.

A total of 1,27,772 aspirants participated in the physical tests up until August 30th, out of which 78,023 cleared the initial stage. The deaths during the physical tests have cast a shadow over the recruitment process and have raised serious concerns about the safety and well-being of candidates participating in such rigorous assessments.
