Kamala Harris Takes Lead Over Trump in Latest Poll

The race for the White House continues to heat up, and the latest polls suggest a growing advantage for US Vice President Kamala Harris. In a recent ABC News/Ipsos poll, Harris has secured a 6-point lead over former President Donald Trump among likely voters, indicating potential momentum for the Democratic nominee.

This lead has been steadily growing since the Democratic National Convention, with Harris emerging ahead of Trump in at least nine surveys conducted after the event. The ABC News/Ipsos poll, published on Sunday, shows Harris garnering 52% support compared to Trump’s 46% among likely voters.

While the pollsters note that the findings are statistically unchanged from a previous August survey, the overall trend points towards a shift in favor of Harris. Notably, Harris has been consistently outperforming Trump in terms of her campaign strategy, with a significant majority of Americans (56%) viewing her campaign as successful. In contrast, only 41% of respondents felt the same way about Trump’s campaign.

However, Trump still holds a strong advantage on issues perceived as crucial to voters. He leads Harris by 8 points each in terms of trust regarding the economy and inflation, and by 9 points when it comes to handling the US-Mexico border crisis. Conversely, Harris is seen as more trustworthy than Trump in protecting American democracy and making Supreme Court appointments.

The ABC News/Ipsos poll, which involved 2,496 respondents, provides valuable insights into the evolving dynamics of the 2024 presidential race. While Harris has gained ground in recent polls, the competition remains tight, with Trump still holding strong on key issues. It will be interesting to see how the race unfolds as the election draws closer and voters continue to weigh the candidates’ positions on crucial issues.
