On Monday, two First Information Reports (FIRs) were filed against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Nitesh Rane in Ahmednagar district, Maharashtra. The complaints stem from provocative speeches he delivered on Sunday at separate events in the Srirampur and Topkhana police jurisdictions.
Rane’s speeches were part of the ‘Sakal Hindu Samaj’ (Entire Hindu Community) agitation that took place in Ahmednagar on Sunday. The nature of his remarks, which are currently under investigation, are said to have been inflammatory and potentially inciting.
The Ahmednagar police have initiated an investigation into the matter. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
