Suryakumar Yadav Out of Duleep Trophy Opening Round Due to Hand Injury

Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav will be sidelined for the opening round of the Duleep Trophy, starting on September 5th, due to a hand injury. The right-handed batsman, who last played for Mumbai in the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament in Coimbatore, sustained the injury during the final match against TNCA XI. He was unable to bat on the last day of the competition due to the injury and subsequently missed the match.

Suryakumar’s unavailability for the Duleep Trophy was confirmed by sources within the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). He was initially scheduled to represent India C against India D in the first-round clash, scheduled to take place in Ananthapur from September 5th to 8th.

However, due to the injury, Suryakumar has reported to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for treatment and rehabilitation. He will focus on recovering from the injury and getting back to full fitness.

The Duleep Trophy is a significant tournament for Indian players vying for selection in the upcoming two-Test series against Bangladesh, starting on September 19th in Chennai. The competition serves as a platform for players to showcase their skills and make a case for inclusion in the national team.

The first-round matches of the Duleep Trophy will be played across two venues. While India C and India D will face off in Ananthapur, India A and India B will clash at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Suryakumar’s absence from the Duleep Trophy is a setback for both India C and his personal ambitions. However, with the upcoming Bangladesh series in sight, his focus will undoubtedly be on regaining full fitness as quickly as possible.
