Dubai’s Tourism Boom: Uzbekistan Emerges as Key Market

Dubai experienced a remarkable year in tourism in 2023, attracting a record-breaking 17.15 million international tourists. This upward trend continues into 2024, with the city already welcoming 9.31 million foreign visitors in the first half of the year, a 9% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

One of the most notable developments is the surge in visitors from Uzbekistan. The summer of 2023 saw an 81% increase in Uzbek tourists compared to the previous year, and a staggering 160% increase compared to the summer of 2019. This growth continues into 2024, with an 8% increase in Uzbek visitors during the first quarter. The rise in Uzbek tourism is fueled by a combination of factors, including Dubai’s growing appeal as a destination, the robust development of its tourism sector, and improved connectivity. Direct flights between Dubai, Tashkent, and Samarkand have significantly facilitated travel between these cities.

The ease of travel, with direct flights and no visa requirements, has made Dubai an incredibly accessible destination for Uzbekistan citizens. The city’s unique cultural experiences, world-class attractions, and high-quality services contribute to its allure for tourists. Dubai is dedicated to providing visitors with an unforgettable, comfortable, and safe holiday experience.

Dubai’s exceptional tourism achievements have garnered global recognition. In 2024, the city was ranked number one in the Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice Awards for the third consecutive year. Dubai continues to solidify its position as a premier destination for leisure and entertainment, attracting tourists from around the world.

Recent initiatives further enhance Dubai’s appeal. The opening of the world’s first Real Madrid theme park at Dubai Parks and Resorts, a collaboration between DET and Real Madrid, was formalized last October. This partnership not only opens new avenues for both organizations but also aligns with Dubai’s D33 economic ambitions.

Additionally, over 100 hotels in Dubai are participating in a special “Kids Go Free” promotion this summer, where children under 12 can stay, dine, and enjoy city attractions at no cost. The Dubai Summer Surprises shopping festival, running from June 28 to September 1, offers visitors and residents extraordinary discounts, exclusive deals, and cultural events. The winter shopping festival takes place from December 13 to January 19, providing a vibrant shopping experience during the cooler months.

Dubai’s commitment to providing world-class experiences, combined with its growing global appeal, ensures its continued success as a leading tourism destination.
