Dhanush Srikanth Shines at World Deaf Shooting Championship, Wins Three Golds

Dhanush Srikanth, a promising young shooter training at London Olympics medalist Gagan Narang’s Gun For Glory Shooting Academy in Hyderabad, has made India proud at the World Deaf Shooting Championship in Hanover, Germany. The 22-year-old athlete showcased exceptional skill and determination, securing a remarkable three gold medals.

Dhanush’s dominance began with a world record-breaking performance in the men’s 10m air rifle event qualification, scoring an impressive 632.7 points. He further solidified his position by finishing first in the finals, leaving fellow Indians Shourya Saini and Mohammed Vania in second and third place respectively.

His success didn’t stop there. He went on to claim gold in the 10m mixed team event, partnering with Mahit Sandhu, and secured another gold in the 10m air rifle men’s team event alongside Saini and Vania. Adding to his achievements, Dhanush also set world records in both qualification and finals for both team events, demonstrating his exceptional consistency and skill.

This impressive performance builds on Dhanush’s previous successes, having already won two gold medals at the Deaflympics in 2022 held in Caxias do Sul, Brazil. In 2023, he also secured gold in the men’s 10m air rifle and silver in the men’s 10 air rifle team at the ISSF Junior World Cup, further highlighting his talent and potential.

Dhanush’s dedication and passion for the sport are evident in his achievements, which include 13 international medals and over 30 medals in state and national-level competitions. He credits his mentor, Gagan Narang, for his guidance and support since 2015, and his coach, Neha Chavan, for his consistent training.
