Haryana Vigilante Group Kills Class 12 Student in Mistaken Identity

A horrifying incident took place in Haryana on August 23, when a group of cow vigilantes fatally shot a class 12 student named Aryan Mishra. The vigilantes, believing they were pursuing cattle smugglers, chased Aryan’s car for nearly 30 kilometers before opening fire. The suspects, identified as Anil Kaushik, Varun, Krishna, Adesh, and Saurabh, are now in police custody.

According to reports, the vigilantes had received information about suspected cattle smugglers leaving the city in a Renault Duster and a Toyota Fortuner. They spotted a Duster at Patel Chowk, where Aryan was traveling with his friends Shanky and Harshit. Mistaking Aryan’s car for the vehicle they were looking for, the vigilantes ordered the car to stop.

However, Aryan and his friends feared being pursued by a rival of Shanky, so they tried to flee. In the ensuing chase, the vigilantes first shot Aryan in the neck. After the car came to a stop, they shot him again, this time in the chest. Realizing they had targeted the wrong person after spotting two women in the car, the vigilantes fled the scene.

Aryan was rushed to a nearby hospital, but sadly succumbed to his injuries the next day. The weapon used in the shooting was found to be illegal.

This tragic incident highlights the dangers of vigilante justice and the need for law enforcement to address such groups. The incident also reflects the growing problem of mob violence in India, often fueled by communal tensions.

In another disturbing incident, Haryana police arrested an eighth suspect on August 31 in connection with the lynching of a migrant worker from West Bengal in Dadri, Haryana. The victim was suspected of consuming beef. Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind chief Maulana Arshad Madani has claimed that the Dadri lynching could have been a planned event aimed at creating communal tension ahead of the state elections.

These incidents serve as a stark reminder of the need for tolerance and understanding in society, and the importance of respecting the law. It is crucial to address the root causes of such violence and ensure that justice is served for all victims.
