The highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is just around the corner, with a rumored launch date in late September or early October. While early buzz surrounding this ‘fan edition’ model was overwhelmingly positive, recent certifications have revealed a potential drawback – 25W wired charging. This is the same charging speed found on its predecessor, the Galaxy S23 FE, and falls significantly short compared to other mid-tier phones like the OnePlus 12R which boasts 80W charging speeds.
Despite this potential downside, the certifications have confirmed earlier rumors about the phone’s features. The Galaxy S24 FE is expected to come equipped with Wi-Fi 6E (supporting both 2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, 5G connectivity, LTE, and GSM. The phone will also support reverse charging, although disappointingly, only up to 9W.
Further rumors point to the Galaxy S24 FE featuring the powerful Samsung Galaxy Exynos 2400 chipset, a spacious 6.7-inch display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and impressive 1900 nits peak brightness, and a robust aluminum body similar to last year’s model. The phone is anticipated to be available in five captivating colors at launch: graphite, blue, silver/white, green, and yellow. Two additional, exclusive colors are expected to be unveiled later on Samsung’s official website.
While the Galaxy S24 FE is anticipated, it’s important to note that Samsung doesn’t always release a new FE model each year. The Galaxy S23 FE was released in October 2023, but there was no Galaxy S22 FE. The Galaxy S21 FE arrived in January 2022, and the Galaxy S20 FE launched in September 2020. Typically, Galaxy S FE models include many of the features found in the pricier regular Galaxy S models from the same year.
With a rumored price tag around $600, the Galaxy S24 FE is likely to attract a wide range of users. However, the lack of faster charging could be a dealbreaker for some who prioritize speed and convenience. It remains to be seen how Samsung will address this concern and whether the Galaxy S24 FE will live up to the high expectations set by previous ‘fan edition’ models.
