India Secures First Medal at Paris Paralympics 2024 with Deepthi Jeevanji’s Bronze

India’s Paralympic contingent made their mark on Day 6 of the Paris Paralympics 2024, with Deepthi Jeevanji securing the nation’s first medal of the day. She clinched a bronze medal in the women’s 400m T20, finishing the race in a commendable 55.82 seconds.

Meanwhile, Avani Lekhara, a celebrated Paralympian, finished fifth in the women’s 50m rifle 3 position SH1 event with a score of 420.6. Despite her valiant effort, she narrowly missed out on a medal. Mona Agarwal, another participant in the same event, finished 13th in qualification and failed to advance to the final.

In the women’s shot put F34 final, Bhagyashri Jadhav delivered a commendable performance, securing fifth place with a best throw of 7.28m. However, in the archery arena, Pooja suffered a setback, losing to Wu Chunyan of China 4-6 in the women’s recurve open quarterfinal.
