As Ganesh Chaturthi approaches, Indian Railways is gearing up for the influx of travelers returning to their hometowns during the auspicious ten-day festival. To manage the expected surge in passenger traffic, the railway network is operating nearly 304 special trains across various routes.
Western Central Railway will be running an additional 56 festive special trains to cater to the demand at key destinations. Meanwhile, Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) will operate seven special trains in September, catering to the lakhs of people who travel from Mumbai to their native places in Konkan.

Konkan Railway Special Trains:

Train No. 09001 Mumbai Central – Thokur Special:
This weekly train will depart from Mumbai Central at 12:00 hrs on Tuesdays (03/09/2024, 10/09/2024 & 17/09/2024) and arrive in Thokur at 08:50 hrs the following day.*
Train No. 09002 Thokur – Mumbai Central (Weekly) Special:
This weekly train will depart from Thokur at 11:00 hrs on Wednesdays (04/09/2024, 11/09/2024 & 18/09/2024) and arrive in Mumbai Central at 07:05 hrs the following day.*
Train No. 09009 Mumbai Central – Sawantwadi Road:
This train will operate six days a week, departing from Mumbai Central at 12:00 hrs on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday from 02/09/2024 to 16/09/2024. The train will reach Sawantwadi Road at 02:30 hrs the next day.*
Train No. 09010 Sawantwadi Road – Mumbai Central (6 days a week) Special:
This train will depart from Sawantwadi Road at 04:50 hrs on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday from 03/09/2024 to 17/09/2024, arriving in Mumbai Central at 20:10 hrs on the same day.These trains will halt at key stations along the route, including Vasai Road, Panvel, Roha, Mangaon, Veer, Karanjadi, Khed, Chiplun, Sindhudurg, Kudal, Sawantwadi Road, Thivim, Karmali, Madgaon Jn., Karwar, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Rajapur Road, Vaibhavwadi Road, Kankavali, Gokarna Road, Kumta, Murdeshwar, Mookambika Road Byndoor (H), etc.
Mumbai Division Special Trains:
The Mumbai Division of the Central Railway has announced 26 additional trains to be operated within the Mumbai division during Ganesh Chaturthi. The Western Central Railway division has also announced 24 Ganpati Special trains, operating from September 6th to 18th to manage the expected surge in passenger traffic.
Reservation for these trains (01031, 01441, and 01443) will open from August 7th.
Ganesh Chaturthi 2024 is set to begin on September 7th and will last till September 16th. With these special train services, the Indian Railways aims to ensure a smooth and comfortable journey for travelers during the festival season.
