The Sister Accord Foundation Celebrates 11 Years of Empowering Sisterhood with Inspiring Events

The Sister Accord Foundation, a movement dedicated to transforming how girls and women treat and support each other, marked its eleventh anniversary with a celebratory weekend themed “A Weekend of Celebrating Sisterhood & Love.” The events, held over August 30th and 31st in iconic Cincinnati venues, included a series of impactful moments.

One of the highlights was the Foundation’s signature program, the 30th Leadership Development Tea Party, hosted in partnership with Prime Cincinnati. This event provided a platform for girls and women to learn about the importance of strong, positive relationships and the significance of overall health and well-being.

The weekend also saw the presentation of The Sister Accord Leadership Award to four exceptional women: Grammy-nominated artist Deborah Cox, Deborah Hayes, President and CEO of The Christ Hospital Health Network, Cynthia Booth, President and CEO of Emerge Manufacturing, and Jean Freeman, Principal and CEO of Zambezi, a woman-owned advertising agency. This prestigious award recognizes individuals whose work has made a significant positive impact on society.

To cap off the celebratory weekend, “Celebrating Sisterhood & Love Concerts” were held at Ludlow Garage, featuring performances by renowned R&B artists Kenny Lattimore and Deborah Cox.

The Sister Accord Foundation’s journey began eleven years ago with its first Leadership Development Tea Party, leading to the City of Cincinnati declaring August 31st as The Sister Accord Day. Since then, Founder Sonia Jackson Myles has inspired individuals globally to perform random acts of kindness. The Foundation has made a profound impact, transforming the lives of countless women and girls through initiatives, programs, and over a quarter million dollars in financial support. Its YouTube videos have garnered 64.4 million views and 289 million impressions to date, spreading the message of sisterhood far and wide.

“I’m incredibly proud of the remarkable achievements we’ve made through The Sister Accord Foundation over the past eleven years,” said Sonia Jackson Myles, Founder and CEO of The Sister Accord Foundation. “Since our founding in 2013, we have made a profound impact on girls and women across the globe by focusing on our three core pillars: to educate girls and women, enlighten them of the power of Sisterhood, and eradicate bullying and violence against them. I couldn’t think of a better way to spend The Sister Accord Day than by honoring these inspiring women leaders and empowering one another to be the best versions of ourselves. I’m so grateful to our sponsors for their support: Blockboard, Shatter The Ceiling Foundation, Interact for Health, Duke Energy, All-In Cincinnati, Prime Cincinnati, and Ludlow Garage. Thank you for believing in our dream to touch and inspire 1 billion girls and women to learn how to love themselves and each other. The girls who are part of The Sister Accord are potential future employees of your companies. They will be prepared for careers with a strong sense of self and understand that Great Leaders Have Great RelationshipsTM.”

This momentous celebration comes on the heels of The Sister Accord Foundation’s expansion into Africa, with the launch of two chapters in Zimbabwe, one in Malawi, and one in Johannesburg, South Africa, in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Foundation. There are also chapters at The University of Zimbabwe and in the states at The Ohio State University, with plans to launch chapters in the Bahamas, Liberia, and Nigeria. These chapters are dedicated to hosting Tea Parties and fostering positive change in the lives of girls and women.
