Get ready for a spectacular Ganesh Chaturthi celebration in Delhi as the renowned Lalbaugcha Raja, the iconic Ganesha statue from Mumbai, is set to grace the national capital. This will be the second time the statue will be brought to Delhi, after its initial appearance in 2015. The event, organized by a committee led by BJP MP Manoj Tiwari, promises an unforgettable experience for devotees.
Tiwari, addressing a press conference at the Constitution Club in New Delhi, revealed the details of the grand event. “People from across the country travel to Mumbai to have darshan of Lalbagh ka Raja. Since 2015, we’ve also brought the Lalbagh ka Raja to Delhi,” he said, inviting Delhi NCR residents for the darshan. The celebrations will take place between September 7th and 16th at the DDA Ground near Sanat Nirankari Samagam in Burari.
The pandal, covering a massive 600,000 square feet, will be equipped with a wooden flooring and can accommodate an estimated 500,000 people. The event will feature dedicated sections for discourses by Baba Bageshwar Ji and Aniruddhacharya Ji Maharaj, alongside captivating cultural programs and musical performances in the evenings.
Rakesh Bindal, Chairman of the Lalbagh ka Raja Trust, added to the excitement, revealing that the pandal will also feature a giant adventure wheel and other attractions. “It is expected to draw between 100,000 and 500,000 devotees. Attendees can enjoy cultural programs, musical performances, and a wide range of food stalls offering regional dishes,” he said.
The organizers have gone to great lengths to ensure authenticity. The Ganesh statue will be a precise replica of the Mumbai idol, crafted at the original site. This eco-friendly statue is designed for immersion in a specially constructed pit at the event location, reflecting a commitment to sustainability.
Preparations for the festival are in full swing. Idol makers are crafting eco-friendly statues of Lord Ganesha, markets are bustling with festive excitement, and sculptors are adding the final touches to the idols.
